That final sentence is my point. It is why when I see bans of certain mons because of "But then I have to bring this counter to every fight" as they actively bring the same pokemon to every fight... It is there I see that buried favoritism in there. Competitive pokemon players love Therian Landorus. He is their favorite. And I can't blame them. A decent bulk on a flying ground type and it is a mustachioed flying tiger. Who doesn't love that? But is banning certain pokemon from OU that hard counter him really necessary? If someone pulls out some niche strategy with an "inferior pokemon" that only works because of some current obsession in the meta, is it really necessary to ban it completely? If something seems like an OP combination that requires no active brainpower, can't engineering work arounds be half the fun of the competitive scene? I think they just can't admit that they have favorites. That when they find certain pokemon that make them smile, having that taken away through someone else's 'cheap tactics' makes them want to protect their favorites. I just wish they could be honest about it.

I remember attempting my first nuzlocke run with Fire Red...I got to Mt Moon realizing that I was screwed. I think I got about half way through when I whited out. Maybe in the future, I'll give Fire Red another shot. The one game I feel the most comfortable with is Ultra Sun. But that damn Ultra Necrozma fight is hella scary. Have you considered playing Pokerogue? While the fights are random, the RNG across multiple runs isn't I believe. If you reset after winning a match, and use the same moves from a previous attempt, the match will play out the same.

Random little fact regarding the Trapinch: In Gens 3 and 4 (and possibly others I'm not sure) AI trainers' pokemon will always have their first abilities (except for certain special/boss trainers which are chosen specifically). So Trapinch will always have Hyper Cutter for most trainers. Randomizers completely adhere to this rule, so you'll never have to worry about Huge Power Azumarill.

I’ll be honest I’ve always god defended gen 2 however, after playing every gen again. I realized something. I breezed through every gen. I loved them all except on gen 2 It took me a month to drag myself through it. It was then I realized something. I thought I liked gen 2 because it had two regions when in reality I am torn between the Gen feeling bloated as heck and shallow at the same time. I unironically thing Gen 2 is my least favorite now. Which is shocking because before this year I would have said it was my favorite.
